    The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst develops and executes test scripts in a manual, or automated, fashion to validate software system functionality to the design specifications approved by the business. Performs various types of testing: Functional (Unit Testing, Smoke Testing, Sanity Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, UAT Testing, Accessibility Testing) and Non-Functional (Compatibility Testing, Load Testing, Stress Testing, Security Testing) using the tools and procedures available in the IT department. Gathers and analyzes data in support of business cases, proposed projects and systems requirements. Documents defects and fixes required related to software application solutions and provides feedback on the overall quality of the solutions being implemented. Collaborates with Project Manager to plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates.





    • A University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline, coupled with relevant, ongoing education in quality assurance, project management, business processes, and/or information systems solutions.
    • 6+ years of experience in a technical environment, testing applications using different types of testing: Functional (Unit Testing, Smoke Testing, Sanity Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, UAT Testing, Accessibility Testing) and Non-Functional (Compatibility Testing, Load Testing, Stress Testing, Security Testing).
    • Experience with platforms such as Jira and Eclipse, languages such as Java, SQL and HTML 5, databases (DB2 & Microsoft SQL Server) and AS/400 exposure would be a strong asset.
    • Experience using testing tools such as Selenium, Rational Performance Tester and JMeter, as well as, accessibility tools such as Jaws, NVDA would be beneficial.
    • Knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies, coupled with experience with core software applications, including web client, desktop client and server applications.
    • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools, and reporting software.
    • Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities. Experience with statistical reporting and analysis.
    • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
    • Strong interpersonal skills related to needs identification, business process consultation, solution selling and relationship management at all levels of the organization.
    • Relevant practical experience in Information Services, business processes, control structures and information systems design, development and implementation will be considered in lieu of a university degree.
    • Knowledge / experience in AS/400 and Windows/Linux platforms, and leveraging same to meet business unit needs, is an asset.
    • Understanding of business unit processes, workflows and management control structures.
    • Understanding of performance measures, cost/benefit analysis and ROI.
    • Speaks in a clear, articulate manner for individual and/or group situations.
    • Interprets and applies complex information.



    Client / Customer Service Delivery


    • In conjunction with the Information Technology team and client department representatives, facilitates business and end-user testing with respect to applications solutions.
    • Consults with business analysts and developers to quantify end-user requirements in order to help build test cases and conduct quality audits to ensure that problem free solutions are implemented.
    • Collaborates with team to establish and document test processes that are automated/repeatable.
    • Works with senior IT staff with respect to application testing and quality assurance and works with the development team to ensure that the applications being developed meet the needs of the business. Applies test automation expertise to develop and execute automated test scripts.
    • Participates in requirements and design reviews to ensure test plans are traceable to requirements. Provides support to the development team and business units throughout the life cycle of a project. Evaluates system performance and effectiveness, and provides ongoing and support for IT solutions. Applies proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.
    • Works with various business units on creating, and executing test cases that ensure the requested business functionality is being developed.
    • The incumbent is required to assist the business units with development of test scenarios and scripts as required.
    • Coaches and trains end users in how to create and execute effective test plans.
    • Provides regular reports to business units and department management regarding the status of assigned projects and initiatives from a quality assurance perspective.




    • Researches, quantifies and leads the development and implementation of test processes and tools for high-quality, cost-effective applications solutions in keeping with the defined and agreed needs of client departments and industry best practices.
    • Remains current on new products and tools via technical journals, Internet sources, conferences and courses, and networks with other professionals.
    • Ensures awareness at all times of organization objectives with respect to current and projected plans for provision of IT functionality to business users.

     Special Projects & Initiatives 

    • Builds relationships with client department staff and managers, based on personal expertise and best practices with respect to technology solutions that address business needs.

    • Works closely with other members of the Information Technology team and client departments in the identification, diagnosis, isolation and resolution of complex problems.
    • Develops and shares expertise regarding Law Society business systems, and regularly communicates with team members regarding systems issues, projects and initiatives.
    • Leads and acts as a key contributor, chairing meetings, facilitating needs identification, and promoting the effective use of information technology solutions to business process and performance objectives.
    • Works towards achieving a service-focused culture with emphasis on delivering on-time, high-quality solutions to internal and external customers.
