The Desktop Publisher and Graphic designer, CPD is responsible for the design, layout, print and distribution of all CPD marketing collateral, ensuring a consistent brand image and identity across all media used to support the sales and promotions of programs and products.




  • A college diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years of desktop publishing / graphic design experience or equivalent, including understanding of AODA requirements.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the Law Society, including organizational structure, services, mandate, rules and regulations, or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of product mandate and procedures, in particular CPD policies and procedures, or willingness to learn.
  • Good grasp of delivering solid customer service in a confidential environment.
  • Reasons through moderately complex spoken and written information.
  • Prioritizes a varied workload.

Technical Skills and Knowledge


  • Proficiency in desktop publishing and graphic design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in production of collateral with commercial and in-house printers.
  • Knowledge of HTML.
  • Experience with e-mail marketing platforms.


Client / Customer Service Delivery 


  • Designs compelling and eye-catching layouts and graphics for a variety of marketing collateral (including but not limited to: signage, advertisements, direct mail, presentations and reports (digital and print), marketing e-mails and newsletters).
  • Processes all requests for the Program Delivery group for any print or digital material needed for programs.
  • Develops templates for post-program materials and for various CPD documents and reports.
  • Thinks creatively to develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts while adhering to established corporate guidelines, policies and graphic standards throughout all design tasks.
  • Builds, organizes and maintains a database of illustrations.
  • Checks proofs for errors, makes corrections and liaises with printers for production of materials.
  • Assists with any other marketing duties as required depending on the department’s needs.
