    The Executive Assistant to the Treasurer provides senior level confidential executive and administrative support to the Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario. Ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the Treasurer’s Office, facilitating the effective flow of information and communications between the Office of the Treasurer, the Office of the CEO, benchers, Law Society management and staff and external constituencies, Working with the Manager, Office of the Treasurer and CEO, coordinates, events and initiatives originating from the Office of the Treasurer as required.




    • A university degree, or equivalent education and training.  Excellent computer and organization skills are required to meet the demands of the position.
    • Minimum of five years prior experience involving a breadth of knowledge and exposure to an executive office environment. Experience working for a Chair of a Board or senior level executive and Board of Directors is required.
    • Solid knowledge of Law Society practices, procedures and protocols.
    • Solid knowledge of professional and confidential office practice to support an executive position, and ability to readily adapt to new situations.
    • Solid knowledge of a broad range of policies and procedures, including an understanding of administrative issues.
    • Understanding of the issues and challenges facing the legal profession and its regulator.
    • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, internet and intranet, and other Law Society applications.
    • Expressive and persuasive in both spoken and written language for individual and/or group situations.



    Client / Customer Service Delivery


    • Plans, communicates, coordinates, schedules and interacts with a full range of internal and external representatives on behalf of the Treasurer. 
    • Provides support to the Treasurer, including preparation of correspondence. 
    • Follows up with Law Society employees, managers and others regarding information required by the Office of the Treasurer including briefing notes, speaking notes and other material as required. Manages the Treasurer’s schedule; accepts invitations and schedules events on behalf of the Treasurer.
    • Schedules appointments, meetings and travel itineraries, and coordinates related arrangements.  Promptly reviews all incoming materials and requests, evaluating for priority, accuracy and completeness, determines their disposition and follows up for action items, making recommendations as appropriate.

    Financial Responsibility


    • Maintains office supplies and orders supplies. 
    • Ensures the efficient operation of all office equipment.  
    • Prepares invoices for payment.  Processes the Treasurer’s expenses.
    • Monitors department and area budgets, checking variances and tracking expenses.


    Team Membership


    • Works collegially and interacts with benchers, department staff, Committees and other key constituents with diplomacy to ensure the effective flow of services, optimization of work processes, and continuity of policies and procedures. 
    • Engages in problem solving with other team members, contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining the confidentiality of information related to the Office of the Treasurer.
    • The EA to the Treasurer may be required to act as backup for the EA to the CEO.


    Client / Customer Service Planning


    • Conducts necessary planning and organization to perform advanced, diversified and confidential secretarial and administrative duties.
    • Prioritizes the flow of materials and communications to and from the areas of responsibility, relieving the Treasurer of complex details and advanced administrative duties.
    • Anticipates issues and matters to be addressed by the Treasurer and makes plans that ensure appropriate and timely responses.
    • Monitors Law Society initiatives on behalf of the Treasurer, and follows up with senior Law Society employees, managers and others regarding operational initiatives and information required by the Treasurer to ensure that the Treasurer is properly briefed on current operational initiatives and issues.
