JOB PURPOSE:
Conducts timely and consistent investigations - independently or as part of a team - under the provisions of The Law Society Act, addressing matters related to (i) the professional conduct of Licensees, (ii) the unauthorized provision of legal services by individuals not licensed, and (iii) the good character of Licensee applicants. Develops disposition proposals aligned with the Law Society's public interest mandate, legislation, by-laws, and policies. Coordinates with Litigation Services staff and provides testimony in regulatory and court proceedings when files do not reach settlement or involve disciplinary action. Manages investigation files that may involve politically or media-sensitive matters subject to public scrutiny.
